Chapter 1 Realization

“ Jake come get ready for the opening day game!” Jakes mom yelled from the front porch.
“Coming mom!” Jake yelled back.
When Jake got into a pair of shoes, he scanned the closet for his baseball uniform “ok found it” he whispered to himself. His head was throbbing but let his team down because of that.
Jake played shortstop on the Little League Tigers, but sometimes got to play pitcher.
When he got dressed, Jake ran downstairs to join his friend Dean Henderson who was also a player on the Tigers.
Jake grabbed his bag and glove then went out to get his bike. When Dean came he was sweating like crazy.
“My dad made me practice (pant, pant) since 8:00 this morning (pant, pant)” Dean said tiredly.
Poor Dean Jake thought its 12:00 right now, 4 hours of hard labor. He shivered
“Ok Dean lets go” They rode away swiftly.
Dean played first base, and was a great fielder, but for all he had it was bad, when he was a kid, Deans dad played in the Little Leagues too and Dean used his glove.
When they finally got to Dodger park, they started to play a game of catch.
Somehow, Jake knew what throws were going to be thrown at him.
How do I know all this? He asked himself.

Chapter 2 Batter Up!

When the announcer introduced the teams and called Jakes name, he nervously walked onto the
Field, into the shortstop marker.
After the cheering went down, they announced Dean, Rick the starting pitcher, Mike the catcher, Joe the center field, and all the rest of the team.
Jake spotted the coach talking to the other shortstop and relief pitcher Derek Petamer and Kear Lugin.
Then Coach Dresso told us that we were batting first actually. Mike got his bat to bat first but the coach ran to the field and yelled
“Jake, you bat first, we count on you the most!”
“Ok coach” Jake replied.
Then Jake went back to the dugout to get his batting helmet and bat.
“Where’s my bag” Jake yelled
“Just use Dean’s right now Jake!” the coach yelled back.
When Dean’s helmet was on and his bat ready, he went to the plate.
“Batter Up” the ump yelled.
Jake took a practice swing and got into his position. On the mound was Don Seaver, the Little League best for E.R.A and best pitcher award three years in a row.
“And here’s the windup and the pitch.” the announcer said, Jake swung , somehow he knew what pitch Don was going to throw.
Curveball Jake thought, then there was a loud crack on wood and the wood bat broke and the ball lost half of the cover!
Jake ran the bases and the Dodger coach called Don out Jake could hear the coach saying;
“how could you let that small boy get a homerun off of you, Don I got you on this team for a good reason, you were a good pitcher. But now what are you…”
The voices were drowned out by all the cheering.
When Jake got back to the dugout he met his team congratulations and thanks. The top of the first, Tigers 1, Dodgers 0.

chapter 3 New pitchers

“New pitcher on the Dodgers, Jeff Weaver, rookie. 0.03 ERA.” the announcer said
“what!!!” Dean yelled “I cant be hitting against him!” he pointed to Jake “Jake’ll be the pinch hitter, he can really hit!”
Everyone agreed except for coach Dresso.
“We have to go in order from Jake to Rick.” the coach wished that wasn’t one of the most important rules in the little league West.
Dean walked up to the plate after yelling
“Dean Henderson”
“Here’s the windup and the pitch!” the announcer said
The ball might have been on fire.
“1 hundred mile fastball, here’s the windup and the pitch…strike 2... Your outa here!”
The next two batters struck out.
“Pitcher now is Rick Snyder on the Tigers.” The announcer groaned “Why cant you trade for a good pitcher Tom!”
Jake got his glove and went to shortstop when the coach came onto the field
“Jake go pitch, Rick you go back to the dugout” he was sweating and wiping his brow with a washcloth.
“Wait,”
here just in, Jake Jackson is the new pitcher on the Tigers, now here’s the batter, Hunter Ariam” The announcer said “Cant believe what I just saw…you could feel the wind from that pitch all the way over here”
The ball went so fast that it pierced the catchers glove and Mike screamed then pointed his wooden knife that he kept for good luck at Jake then left without saying anything.
“Since Mike the catcher went out of the park with no glove and no game the new catcher is…uhhu…yes… makes sense…hahahahahahah…
Sounds good, the new catcher is the infamous Eric Ariam!!!”
Dang Jake thought Hunter and Eric are brothers that makes them both of them cheaters and the reason the stupid announcer said infamous was because he is Known to cheat and lie about the age he is!
Then he finally yelled “coach I switch out!”

Chapter 4 Sacrifice

“But you cant!” the coach yelled back “You should have just made you come back here because you caused the injury but you were threatened by him but I am keeping you in there because I like you!”
“Coach just one thing but I have to tell you, Hunter and Eric are brothers.” the he said the first part of the first as a nice sweet voice then he got into the good hard voice. “it’s a bad thing to let bothers on different teams be batter and catcher!did you know what Eric has been accused of? remember what you did to get him here ,yeah, you traded our best catcher for a stinkin cheater!” he panted after he said that (more like yelled that )
for the first time he snapped at the coach, for the first time he told the coach how he felt… but the only bad thing was that he got it cought on tape!
“Rick” the coach said “get out to the field and Jake get out of it”
Jake had forgotten about the most important Tigers rule:don’t let the coach, Tom Dresso get mad because that’s why Sid Seaver go traded to the Maryland Orioles.
Jake’s head started to throb again.whats wrong with me? he thought
“Jake” the coach said “you are off the team for 4 games not including this one until next season!” the coach said “Get onto the bench.”
“Here just in, Rick Snyder is the new pitcher on the Tigers.” the announer said
“No I’m still here Mr. Announcer!” Jake yelled back
“Jake get off the field!”

Chapter 5 concequence

After the game, The team lost:Tigers 2 Dodgers 68
This is how the game went: Rick gave up 12 runs then in the 4th inning Rich Larker played the worst 3 innings of the life… giving up 51 runs then Larry (Lard) pirken played the best 2 innings of the Tigers game giving up only 5 runs, a grand slam and a inside the park homerun.
“You lost by 66 runs I am very, very disappointed in you 18 players” he pointed at Jake “You are off the team for the whole rest of the season!
“What!” the whole team especially Dean was mad
“No he can’t be off the team!”Dean fumed “We can’t have a team with a stinky shortstop…Kear is both not ready and not even old enough for the Little Leagues!”
“Oh Yeah!” Kear cut in “I’v been ready all my life but coach has always benched me and I’m sick of it!”
“Kear, Dean you are with Jake the coach said immediately after the argument

chapter 6 Cougars
After the game, Dean and Jake were halfway home a dark circle came out of the sky. It came closer and closer and the closer it came the more it looks like a baseball, then finally fell to the ground.
“Hey that’s a ball” Jake said.
“Yeah your right star!” Dean said back.
(Dean called Jake “star” because, well all of the Tigers players call him that.)
Jake and Dean rode over to where the ball came from.
“Whoa!” Dean yelled excitedly “Its another team!”
“There uniforms say Cougars, Dean.”
“Whoa!”
“I haven’t heard of them so lets see if theres an opening.”
“Whoa!”
“Dean, Dean, DEAN!”Jake yelled
“Whoa”Came the answer
Dean and Jake walked up to the field just in time for a practice game
“Hey coach” Jake yelled “Can we join, your missing the shortstop and first basemen!”
The large man that was on the field came up to the boys “I am the coach, Jet Zachs.” He said “But I cant let the eye join the team.”
Then Jake remembered the truth: Jet Zachs was use to be the doctor of Jake Jackson and he remembered that he as in Jake had special powers
Jake went into a fake sad state, he made up fake tears then did the pout that got the whole team looking at him.
“Noone wants me on a team!” he said
“Jake, I used to be your doctor I know you can see the future!”
Jake opened his eyes wide
“Really!”
“Yes.”
No wonder he knew what ball was coming at him
“I could really help the team.”
The coach thought the offer over for a moment.
“You could.” he looked at Dean “He could. But what about you, you look like the average player.”
“I am.” Dean stood his ground “But I am no average person. Just because I’m poor and and this glove.” He held up the tattered piece of leather “Is over 28 years old does not mean I’m poor at being a person!”
A rather wealthy Cougars player raised his hand. “Yeah it does!”
The Dean supporters said “Not.” after the sentence.
“Quiet!” Coach Zachs yelled “We’ll take you both for an exception.”
Most of the team cheerd but a couple disliked Dean but others were jealous of Jake.
Jake and Dean both knew what was coming.
“Oh, and your not the first person…”
“To join the team today!” The boys said in unison.
“Yeah your right Ding dong ad guy that got me eliminated from theam Ding dong.” Kear walked out of the shadows.
“Oh Iaudda…” Dean yelled swinging his duffle bag off of the bench.
“That can be a drop off the team Dean (giggle) that rymed!” Kear said
“Wait, Dean wheres my Duffle?” Jake was concerned.
Jakes duffle bag held his bat, his old glove, 20.00, a certificate to Dysney, and Jakes wallet, (not to mention his baseball card collection).

Chapter 7 Burglar

“You!” Jake pointed at Kear “You stole it! I just know it!”
“Hey do I look like I got gold in my pocket?” Kear snapped back, then took out his pockets and took out a quarter and a 1984 Jack Morris baseball card. “This is all I got… but I think the baseball card is worth a little more than I thought.” Then put the baseball card and quarter back in his pockets.
“O.k. but I am still suspecting you Kear. Wait, wheres your bag!?” Jake asked angrier than ever he thought he was going to explode.
“Hey, it’s o.k. Ding-Dong don’t get turned into the fat pig, your so red in the face.”
Kear walkd over to the bench.
No one calls me a fat pig Jake thought. Then he tried to punch Kear from behind but Kear turned around and caught the punch as fast as a lightning bolt.
“I told you not to get too angry, oh and heres my bag.” He handed Jake a bag that was made of brown leather with the zipper that was supposed to look like the grips of a football.
Jake turned aside the football bag and walked over to the bench and looked at another bag.
“Hey this one lookes exactly like mine used to look like.”
Jake opened the gray and red Adidas bag and his mouth dropped down to almost the bag itself, it contained an old glove, a Louisville slugger bat, $20.00, and a Dysney certificate, even Jake Jackson’s wallet!

Chapter 8 identity theft

Jake knew it, he just did, it was the person he suspected, the one that said that Dean was a lousy player, Luke Whaitaker.
Jake started pacing in front of the coach and Kear.
“Bring me the rest of the Cougars, coach! He demanded to Jet.
When coach Zachs got the team rounded Jake paced in front of them too. Jake pointed to Luke, “You took my bag from the Tigers bench and then didn’t tell the coach it wasn’t your bag.” He tried to sound like a reasonable small 12 year old but then forced a bad sound at Jet.
“This is mostly your fault because and only because you didn’t ask if the bag was his bag.”
Jake just then thought he was mindless and everything, counting the people turned black. He was in a dark, dim lit room with the light bulb almost burned out.
Coach Tom Dresso was there and so was Jake’s mother.
It seemed like they didn’t even notice the boy with the red Detroit Tigers hat in the eerie lights of the room.
“Mom, Coach, do you hear me!” Jake yelled as loud as he could and even yelled supercalifragileistic at the top of his lungs, just as his mom hated most of all. They didn’t even wince.
“Hey Tom, wanna come to the party for the very first game of the Cougars, ever!” Jake looked behind him and saw that it was Jet Zachs.
Jake tried to get out of his way but instead tripped into coach Zachs… and went straight through him!
Jake knew he was looking into the future.

Chapter 9 first game

Jake felt the strength drain out of him ounce by ounce by ounce then they finally talked.
“Well Jake is our best player and is very talented, but, Mrs.Jackson, he has a very hard temper on all the coaches including yours truly.”
“I’m very, very sorry.” came the reply “I don’t know what’s gotten into him…“ she stopped then looked right at Jake.
Jake just then figured out the reason she saw him, there was a little electronic braclet on her wrist in tiny letters the writing in hastily written sharpy were the words future sensors by Jet Zachs.
“Mom.” Jake finally managed to say… but it only came out in a whisper. “I’m sorry I didn’t came straight home to tell you I could see what I was supposed to see, I was too caught up in the big bag thing that didn’t even mean really anything up to the power I just figured out today.”
“It’s o.k. Jake I didn’t mean to make the mean pig come out of you.” his mom giggled back.
“Kear!”
“Yes Kear did all of the talking from the future.” she giggled again
Jake flicked back to the present and the team was standing over him… well at least all the ones that knew they were not in trouble.
“Team.” Jake whispered because he was so weak “I saw the future.”
He told the guys the story and some ended up in awe, others in disgust.
“He’s going to have a party without us.”
“Kids! Kids! Gather round the game is going to start in an hour against the Tigers!
There were a lot of boos and whispers and relly bad comments like
“We’ll never beat ’um”
Or “We still hav’nt had any stupid practices!”
But Jake knew that the other coach didn’t even really like him, this would be a challenge to win his best place of the league, first place.
Coach Dresso didn’t know Jakes full potential… and probably didn’t intend to find out any time soon.
After one hour the game started. Legion field was the worst field for the Tigers because the tigers play usually in large, big population parks that has lots and lots of people visiting for a good game of Little League baseball. There were less than 25 fans here at the Legion, half Cougar parents the other of the fans were Tigers parents.
“The Cougars are here with the eye…” the voice trailed off to Jake, his mom wasn’t there.
By the fifth inning the game was the amazing score, Cougars 213-Tigers 9!
On the mound was Keith Precher, and he was really struggling to finish the game, he finished the game in the 6th inning. Then Jake came to the mound and pounded their heads to the ground! Radio braudcasters came from the Detroit 10.87 radio station and reporters from every newspaper came by the fast spreading news about the boy that scored 155 runs in 6 innings!
7 Little League games later… Jake had turned into a selfish unkind boy in 7 games. Dean stopped hanging out with him, and the stress of the reporters broke into the house.
From day 2 on the all the reporters came to him… and a very strange feeling started to creep over him, the feeling that the power was draining out of him.
The score was decending down to 5 runs in a single game.
The World Series was today. They were facing the other best team in the league… The New Yorks Wechester South.
“I am the best player ever!” Jake said stubbornly “I will beat Wechester South single handedly, I don’t even need the bigheaded rich players of the Cougars.”
Jake didn’t even like the reporters or the cameras and even knocked one person out for calling him stubborn.
“Jake get your uniform on so I can drive you to the whatchamacallit, Game.” Jake’s mom was whispering to herself and shaking her blond Ponytail every once in a while.
“I’m ready to go to the stupid game to get it over with.” Jake ran to the old 1960’s Ford.
The faster I go to the game the faster the reporters go away. he thought They might never go away! That thought made him shiver.
When he got out from the long ride and ran to the new Williamsport stadium… There he thought he was in heaven, There where signs with his name and face on them.

Chapter 10 unbelievable

“Here is the Cougars, Jake, Dean, Luis, Kear, Luke, Ryan…” The announcers voice drained out to Jake What if we don’t win? What if I disappoint the entire Williamsport, Pennsylvania stadium? Another shivering thought.
Ring, ring, ring, ring Jakes new cell phone that one reporter gave him rang. Jake picked it up and looked at the touch screen. I forgot to install caller I.D. stupid me. Jake thought.
Then the realization happened again he just had turned unselfish. He answered the phone, it was coach Dresso.
“Why don’t you just take a hike, you old lug.” Jake said jokingly.
“This is no laughing matter Jake.” Came a serious reply “I’ll tell you it good…your mom and I are going to get married.”
Jake was really freaked out “What! That’s impossible why didn’t mom tell me!”
“The reason she didn’t was because we didn’t want you to be nervous in the middle of the season!” Now the coach was being more relaxed “Oh and a trade will be necessary for a father and son.”
Jake couldn’t believe what he was hearing A trade in the middle of the World series game. He would have to forfeit.
Once the game started he was in the Tigers coach house where he would be until he hoped to go to the minors, then the majors.
After the coach and Jake’s mom got married Jake turned into a hall of famer of the major leagues.
He would never forget the powers he found but then lost in the shows interviews and games.
Being a Little League had its advantages.
